Microscopic text is best marked with a Pulsed UV laser because of the spot size of the UV wavelength. This process is used by many manufacturers for anti-counterfeiting purposes or for materials needing this type of application.

The height of the text marked with the UV laser is 0.007″. Extremely difficult to see with the naked eye. The figure 1b was taken with our microscope in our applications lab. As you can see, there is no charring to the surrounding surface due to the properties of the UV laser wavelength. Pulsed UV lasers are also great for use on HDPE plastics, thin foil, plastic labels, and medical materials because of this non-charring process.
