Is UV laser marking cold or hot?

Laser marking machines can be divided into cold processing and hot processing. These two processing technologies are mainly aimed at different materials. Generally, hot processing is aimed at materials that can be heated. On the contrary, cold processing is aimed at materials that cannot be heated.

 

Thermal processing: The surface of the workpiece is irradiated with a laser beam, the surface of the material absorbs the laser energy, and a thermal excitation process occurs in the irradiation area, so that the temperature of the surface of the material (or coating) rises, resulting in metamorphosis, melting, ablation, evaporation and other phenomena. Because it uses high temperature to finish the effect, it is called hot working.

 

Such as: fiber laser marking machine, CO2 laser marking machine, mopa laser marking machine and semiconductor laser marking machine are thermal processing.

 

Cold working: Photons with very high loading energies that can modify the material or the surrounding medium to the point that the material is destroyed by non-thermal processes. Because the low temperature is used, the thermal ablation temperature of the bottom of the box is lower, so there is no "thermal damage" and "cold peeling", so there is no heating or thermal deformation on the inner layer and nearby areas of the machined surface. It will cause burning, black edge, deformation and other problems to the workpiece.
